NMBI BOARD ELECTION 2024

An election to select two new members for the Board of Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), has been announced. This election, governed by the provisions of the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011 (as amended) and the Ministerial Procedures of 2 August 2012, will see candidates competing in two key categories.

The two categories for which representatives will be elected are:

  1. A registered nurse from the practice of general nursing.
  2. A registered nurse or midwife employed in the public health sector and engaged in the education of nurses or midwives.

However, in the category of “a registered nurse from the practice of children’s nursing engaged in clinical practice”, no election will be held as only one nominee was received.

The candidates for the remaining categories are:

A registered nurse from the practice of general nursing:

– Janet Baby Joseph

– Ann Keohane

– Michelle Quinn

– Somy Thomas

Registered Nurse/Midwife in the Public Health Sector and Engaged in Education of nurses or midwives:

– Gráinne Gaffney

– Colette Lyng

Over the coming days, information about these candidates will be made available to the public.

Only nurses and midwives registered with the NMBI by 1 pm on Monday, 26 August 2024, are eligible to vote. Election details and e-voting instructions will be issued to qualified registrants by Monday, 23 September 2024. The electronic voting period will begin on 23 September 2024 at 9:00 am and will close on Wednesday, 2 October 2024, at noon.
